This breastplate necklace is one of our Native American inspired accessories. I love the culture and history, and their practices of never wasting materials and respecting the earth are to aspire to. Wear this necklace to bring out the native spirit in you.
This necklace is entirely hand made, with the feathers being hand wrapped in copper and then cotton cording. Feathers are in earth tones combined with just a touch of orange. Hair pipe beads are made of bone and the center beads are natural Picasso jasper stone. The leather is a combination of scraps from the leather industry and leather sourced from a small western US company. The feathers are bi-products from the poultry industry and are amazingly soft. The bone hair pipe beads come from a small business in California, and the cotton cording is from a small business in New York.
This piece is easily worn and slides over your head without needing a clasp.
MEASUREMENTS: made with 1" (2.5cm) hair-pipe beads, total width of pendant about 3.5"(9cm) wide when laid flat, about 17" (43cm) long from top of strap to bottom of lowest bead.
MADE TO ORDER: Each one is made by hand and some variations in color and look will occur. Due to the leather being scrap leather, it contains some natural variations in color and spots within each piece.
Each piece in our shop is created with the Earth in mind many being made of "reincarnated" items. Add some history and archaeology to your day.
